29 Nov – 1 dec | led by Candradipa, Jayadhi, Amalasri + Amaladasa
The teachings of the Buddha spring from his direct experience of the Truth, his Enlightenment.
It can be easy to lose sight of this when we read many Buddhist teachings. One exception to this is the Udāna, one of the earliest of the Buddha’s teachings.
In the Udāna, we see the newly Enlightened Buddha forming a community of truth-seekers, and working out how to explore the vastness of his experience to them. In many ways, we’re not so different from the truth-seekers of those days.
During this weekend, we’ll be exploring the teachings of the Udāna. We’ll feel the ‘fresh air of the days when ‘Buddhism’ did not yet exist, when it was ‘simply’ a question of the newly Enlightened Buddha working out how on earth he was going to express his experience in a way that other people could understand, and responding to whomever he happened to meet.’
A perfect weekend to experience Buddhist practice in an immersive setting with meditations, talks, silence, discussions and Buddhist ritual – all led by a team of young Order members. If you’re aged 18-30, new to Buddhism or have been practising for some time – this retreat is for you!
