Singing the Sangha

Led by Arthasiddhi, Vipulakirti, Manidhara, Vandanajyoti

#Please state on your booking form what voice you are and if you can read music#

On this year's retreat we will be reciting the exuberant text of the Bodhicaryavatara puja within which we will sing Manidhara's liturgical setting for choir of the lines of the Sevenfold Puja.

"In order to bring about the arising of the Bodhicitta, I offer worship to the Buddhas..."
In his book, Ritual and Devotion, Bhante asks the question: how do we translate knowing into being? As we see in this first line the puja is performed for this purpose. When we sing we involve the heart. Involving the heart is how we translate knowing into being. This 'being', in this collective devotional context transforms into Sangha; singing the puja we Sing the Sangha. Come along and deepen your appreciation of both puja and choir.

The retreat is for both music readers and those who learn by ear. Those who learn by ear will need to do all the music learning before the weekend by MP3 as there won't be time to teach by ear on the weekend. Please indicate whether you are Soprano, Alto , Tenor or Bass when booking and whether you read music or not.
