Event Title: Energy + Pure Love: the Padmasambhava Sadhana and the Six Bardos

Led by Padmavajra + team

“Guru Padmasambhava represents the Buddha himself – the Dharma itself - as the transformer of all the primordial energies and forces within us, so that they can be integrated with the purer clearer energies of the spiritual life, so that our spiritual life is pulsing with life and energy.”
– Urgyen Sangharakshita

On this retreat we will be devoting ourselves to the practice of the Sadhana of the Greatly Precious Guru Padmasambhava. The sadhana is transmitted to us by Urgyen Sanghaarakshita is simple, direct and profound and leads to the total transform of our body, speech and mind.

We will also be studying the Root Verses of the Six Bardos. These verses are from the famous Bardo Thodol terma, commonly known in the West as the Tibetan Book of the Dead. Nyingma tradition regards this text as having been hidden by Guru Padmasambhava in the 8th century and revealed by Karma Lingpa in the 14th century.

In 1975 on a meditation seminar, Urgyen Sangharakshita taught the contemplation of ‘the Root Verses’ as an inspiring way to contemplate death to counteract the poison of craving. So on this retreat, as well as the intensive practice of the Padmasambhava Sadhana, we will also be studying the Precious Guru’s essential words rousing us to use the bardos of life, dream, meditation, moment of death, intermediate state and rebirth as spaces of total transformation.

As well as practising the Guru Sadhana, we will also practice the contemplation of the six elements, as well as puja with chanting of Padmasambhava mantras and invocations.

“The hour has come when energy and pure love are needed. May I cast off jealousy and meditate on the Guru, the Father-Mother.”
