The Eight Guidelines

Led by Tiratnaloka team

A women's ordination training retreat run by the Tiratanaloka team.

Regardless of differences, all Order Members are united by a common commitment to the Three Jewels. Thus it is no longer possible to call [the Triratna Buddhist Order] a lay order, any more than it can be called a monastic order. Perhaps it represents a new kind of development, one more in line with the original spirit of the Dharma.”
Sangharakshita, ‘The Nucleus of a New Society’

A retreat that’s particularly suitable for those who have recently requested ordination into the Triratna Buddhist Order, and is also relevant to those with more experience. We’ll be studying ‘The Eight Guidelines’, which offer a map of the principles behind ordination, and give us a glimpse of the profound and mysterious commitment that ordination represents.

There will be a German-speaking group on this retreat, and the retreat will be conducted in English and in German.

PLEASE NOTE THERE GERMAN SPEAKING GROUP IS NOW FULLY BOOKED. PLEASE CONTACT THE OFFICE TO BE ADDED TO THE WAITING LIST.

Reception is from 4pm on the day of arrival, with the retreat beginning with supper at 6pm.

The retreat will finish in the morning after the clear-up. If traveling on public transport, please book a train after 11am.

The deposit for all our events is non-refundable and non-transferable under all circumstances. For this event, the deposit is £90.

The third rate is for those who are experiencing acute financial hardship that restricts their ability to come on retreat. We want to help you be able to attend events at Adhisthana and so we set this rate lower than the basic costs for the retreat to provide financial assistance in order to make your attendance possible. We can offer this because of the generosity of others. If this rate is still too much for your circumstances, you can get in touch about our Bursary fund through which we can offer a set number of ‘dana places’ (‘donation places’) for each retreat that allow you to contribute the amount you feel is appropriate.

Single rooms have been fully booked (05/10). Please get in contact to be added to a single room waiting list if required.
