Precepts of Our Lineage: Metta and Insight

Led by Ratnaghosha + Jnanadhara

“To miss the link between Metta and Insight is to miss the point of Metta entirely”. This is a quote from Living With Kindness where Bhante delves deeply into the Karaniya Metta Sutta and reveals an abundance of treasures. From the very first chapter where he says, “The point of Metta is to bring you closer to reality” right through to the end there is a constant theme that brings out the Wisdom aspect of Metta.

I (Ratnaghosha) have studied this book quite thoroughly and I’ve found it to be a very inspiring source of reflection and insights.

Another quote: “A common misapprehension is to think of Insight and egolessness in abstract, even metaphysical, terms rather than as concretely lived attitudes” During this Study Convention we will be getting a deeper understanding of the connection between Metta and Insight and through reflections and other practices we will begin to get a sense of what it means to really embody Metta, as “concretely lived attitudes”.

Reception is from 4pm on the day of arrival, with the retreat beginning with supper at 6pm.

The retreat will finish in the morning after the clear-up. If traveling on public transport, please book a train after 11am.
