Sub30 Meditation Intensive | Mindfulness and Insight

3 – 12 Oct | led by Dhivan + Saddhanandi

The Buddha’s teachings on anapanasati take us to the heart of Buddhist meditation and offer a comprehensive path, bringing together calm (samatha) and insight (vipassana). Through progressively bringing awareness to the breath, feelings, the mind, and the nature of experience, we can see into the nature of reality. Purifying and freeing the mind leads to the liberating experience of deep letting go.

Encounter your mind with the majority of the retreat taking place in silence, 1:1 meditation reviews, superb teaching and ten days in the beautiful natural surroundings of Adhisthana – the Sub30 intensive offers a perfect opportunity to encounter your mind, deepen your experience and progress (or start!) your practice of meditation.

Leaders

Dhivan is one of our scholars, bringing an analytical approach to Buddhist texts, he nevertheless is also embodied and grounded, and can be found hanging out by the Dharma Parlour at Buddhafield festival or dancing in five rhythms. He has been a university lecturer as well as being resident scholar at Adhisthana for a time. He has written several books, including This being, That becomes.

Trained as an artist, Saddhanandi initially was involved in the Glasgow Sangha. She was at Taraloka for 20 years, and was Chair there for the last 13 of those years, before moving to Adhisthana and becoming Chair. In late 2021 she handed on this responsibility but continues to live and work here as a member of the Dharma Team.

Reception is from 4pm on the day of arrival, with the retreat beginning with supper at 6pm.

While you’re here you will be participating in communal life. This includes meditating with everyone on site in the main shrine room in the morning, taking part in daily tasks and at the end of your retreat you will help us to prepare the retreat centre for the next group to join us.

With this in mind, the retreat will finish after the clear-up, so if travelling on public transport, please book a train after 11am.
