Buddha Day – 23 May 2024

Part of the Adhisthana Liturgical Calendar: Throughout the year we celebrate significant events in the Buddhist and Triratna calendars which form a rhythm of the year. Each event is celebrated differently and might just be celebrated within the Adhisthana residential communities or it might also include others retreats, locals or anyone who wishes to come! Details will be posted here when available.

Buddha Day, also know as Wesak, is one of the most important Buddhist festivals. It is celebrated in many parts of the Buddhist world, including Thailand, Korea and India, and of course, wherever there are Triratna Sanghas. It is a celebration of Buddha’s birthday and, for some Buddhists, marks his enlightenment (when he discovered life’s meaning). It is also a time to reflect on his teachings and what it means to be Buddhist.
