Solitary Retreats

What we offer

Adhisthana is excited to offer the opportunity for order members & mitras in our Triratna community to visit and spend time at Adhisthana. This is an opportunity for stillness, meditation, study, beauty, and devotion with the freedom to follow your own threads of inspiration. During your stay at Adhisthana basics needs such a food & heating will be taken care of, leaving you free to enjoy the conditions on offer here. You can take advantage of our beautiful gardens, Bhante’s burial mound, plenty of space and the opportunity for country walks. The Adhisthana Community will be around on site, but you will be left to focus on solitary pursuits, amidst the currently quiet life of Adhisthana.

Facilities & Food

To comply with current regulations, you will be in a single room with your own wing of the retreat centre with a tea bar/kitchenette, and private bathroom. We ask that you please bring your own bed linen (single sheet, single duvet cover, two pillow cases). You will be provided with lunch and dinner from the retreat kitchen as well as food for breakfast and snacks. If you have a restricted diet, please email us to see if we can cater for you. You will have your own fridge to store any supplementary items you may need, and self-catering is also an option where facilities allow. Please note all solitary spaces require use of stairs for access.

If you would like to read a book from our lending library, then let us know before you arrive and it will be waiting for your in your room. Want to know what’s available? Check out this link: Dharma Library

Practice Reviews

During your week you can request a practice review to support your solitary. You can request the review before or during your stay and we’ll do our best to arrange it for you depending on availability. Reviews will be conducted by Saddhanandi, Bodhiketu, Dhammarati, Ratnadharini, Saddhaloka, Shubhavyuha or Lokeshvara.

Country Walks

On request we can provide maps, walking boots (even walking sticks) for a range of country walks from a leisurely stroll to a hike up the Malvern Hills in under two hours for the more adventurous.

If you’d like to get your hands dirty you’re welcome to ask if you can help out with some gardening as a way of relaxing and giving energy to the beauty of Adhisthana.

Share your solitary

Although no longer a ‘solitary’ you’re welcome to share your retreat as each space is able to comfortably accommodate multiple people. It’s a great way to spend time other others and explore your practice together. Email the office to discuss pricing.

We are taking bookings for a minimum of one week at £265 per week, beginning and ending on a Friday. Any additional weeks are at the discounted rate of £200. Taking into consideration all the extra precautions and restrictions we currently have to follow, we have aimed to keep the price low and welcome dana on top if you can afford it.

If you wish to come on retreat with someone, please get in contact with us for pricing.

Arrival and Check-out

Your room will be available from 4pm on the day you arrive, please come to the office upon arrival to be welcomed. We request you ‘check-out’ and vacate your rooms by 10.30am on the morning you leave, although you are welcome to stay on-site until 1pm if needed. This is to ensure we have enough time to thoroughly deep clean all facilities.

The table below shows our current availability, but we will release later dates on a rolling basis. If you’re interested in coming after the dates displayed, we can place you on a waiting list and get in contact to confirm closer to the time.

You can email to be put on a waiting list for any week not yet released, or you can get in contact about coming for a self-catered camping visit. More information about coming to camp is available here.
