Sub25 Retreat - SAMSARA/NIRVANA: Intense Withdrawal, Intense Engagement

The 3rd annual SUB25 weekend retreat – open to all levels of experience

A weekend retreat for all those 25 and under, interested in exploring and living the Buddhist path to Liberation and responding to the suffering world.

There will be meditation, talks, discussion groups, ritual, and time spent hanging out with other Sub25s.

The trend of withdrawal represents the movement of total withdrawal from mundane things. You wish to get away from all the fluctuations and vicissitudes of this mundane life and escape from the round of existence.

The trend of engagement represents concern for living beings. You see that the whole world of living beings is involved in suffering and you wish to respond.

To choose either alternative is easy: it is easy either to withdraw into spiritual individualism or to remain involved in a worldly way without much of a spiritual outlook.

Both of these trends must be developed on the Buddhist path - the trend of withdrawal embodies the Wisdom aspect, the trend of engagement embodies the Compassion aspect - until there is a turning about in the deepest seat of our consciousness, a complete transcendence, a breaking through into freedom.

Come along for a weekend of intense withdrawal and intense engagement - to free your heart and mind.

* There will be the opportunity to stay on for a Public Ordination ceremony taking place at Adhisthana on the afternoon of Sunday 2nd, leaving after the ceremony before 18.00.
