Men's Private Preceptors: Gladdening the Hearts of Preceptors

The act of witnessing the Effective Going for Refuge at the time of someone's Private Ordination is of crucial importance, both for the person being ordained, for the private preceptor and for the life of the Order. Given this, it is also of crucial importance for us to get together regularly to continue exploring the many dimensions of being a Private Preceptor and what the act of witnessing means.

In the course of this Private Preceptors retreat will include the themes 'The Essence of a Private Preceptor', 'The Ethics of a Private Preceptor', 'The Meditation of a Private Preceptor', 'The View of a Private Preceptor'

There will also be meditations, pujas, circumambulation of Bhante's burial mound, and plenty of opportunities to spend time with one another in Adhisthana's beautiful grounds.

These retreats are a great opportunity for private preceptors to come together with a team of public preceptors to explore in greater depth the significance of being a private preceptor.

Reception is from 4pm on the day of arrival, with the retreat beginning with supper at 6pm.

While you’re here you will be participating in communal life. This includes meditating with everyone on site in the main shrine room in the morning, taking part in daily tasks and at the end of your retreat you will help us to prepare the retreat centre for the next group to join us.

With this in mind, the retreat will finish after the clear-up, so if travelling on public transport, please book a train after 11am.
