10 – 17 April | LED BY Dhammarati, Padmadhara + Lilavati
The Religion of Art takes one of the most counterintuitive ideas in Buddhism—anatta—makes it understandable and accessible as ‘an openness to new experience’ and points out its overlap with the deepest strands of Western culture. The retreat will explore that opening to new experience through Dharma practice and art.
Dhammarati trained as a graphic designer at Central School of Art; his work can be found on books and publicity throughout Triratna. Padmadhara is a filmmaker and teaches at London Institute. Lilavati is a painter and founder of the Essential School of Painting in London.
Reception is from 4pm on the day of arrival, with the retreat beginning with supper at 6pm.
While you’re here you will be participating in communal life. This includes meditating with everyone on site in the main shrine room in the morning, taking part in daily tasks and at the end of your retreat you will help us to prepare the retreat centre for the next group to join us.
With this in mind, the retreat will finish after the clear-up, so if travelling on public transport, please book a train after 11am.
