2 – 7 August | led by Jnanadhara + team
In founding the Triratna Buddhist Community, Sangharakshita was making a completely fresh start at Buddhism. This new Buddhist movement sought to identify the absolute essentials of the Buddha’s teaching, and to make those essential principles known and relevant to people’s lives in the modern world.
In 1976, nine years after its founding, Sangharakshita gave four talks that crystallised those essentials into four gifts that Triratna offers: A Method of Personal Development; A Vision of Human Existence; The Nucleus of a New Society; and A Blueprint for a New World. The vision that he communicated animated the movement and gave it direction and purpose.
Fifty years on, we’ll take a fresh look at this seminal material and ask how it can clarify and animate our individual and collective lives today.
Jnanadhara

Originally from New Zealand, Jnanadhara met Triratna while studying music. After a time working with windhorse:evolution in the U.K. he relocated to Ireland where for 12 years he was Chair of the Dublin Buddhist Centre. At present he works as International Movement Coordinator joining up different parts of the Triratna movement worldwide.
Seminar Retreats offer an intimate setting to look in-depth at Bhante’s exposition of key texts, bring us closer to the mind behind the teaching, and understand their relevance to our lives and practice. Places are very limited so book early.
Reception is from 4pm on the day of arrival, with the retreat beginning with supper at 6pm.
While you’re here you will be participating in communal life. This includes meditating with everyone on site in the main shrine room in the morning, taking part in daily tasks and at the end of your retreat you will help us to prepare the retreat centre for the next group to join us.
With this in mind, the retreat will finish after the clear-up, so if traveling on public transport, please book a train after 11am.
