Meditation and Buddhism Class

Join us to meditate with others and develop your ability to work creatively with your mind. You can either learn to meditate from scratch and develop the foundations for a daily practice or join the regulars to build on what you know and discover how to apply yourself effectively in meditation.

Classes are currently being held on Mondays from 19:30-21:30 and is for people of all levels of experience.

You are welcome to arrive 15 minutes before the start. When you arrive, there’ll be someone waiting by the entrance to direct you where to go and help you with any queries.

The class is held in a room on the first floor and is therefore unfortunately not accessible.

In the first half we meditate together, followed by a tea break. In the second half we hear about the teachings of the Buddha with the opportunity for discussion and questions.

The class is led by a team of members of the Triratna Buddhist Order and those who are training for ordination.

If you would like more information you can call Adhisthana on 01531 641726 or email us, otherwise just turn up!

Dana can be translated as cultivating generosity or giving. Following the Buddha’s example, we offering the teachings freely just as we have received them freely from previous generations of teachers. In this way the dharma (the teachings of the Buddhist tradition) are given on a non-transactional basis. In so doing we support the creation of a world that is based more upon mutual generosity, gratitude, trust and freedom.

There is no correct sum to give. The amount depends upon your ability to give and how your heart is moved. Whatever you give, we thank you for your generosity in helping pass on the benefits of the Buddha’s teachings. As some people find it helpful, we can offer a suggested donation of £5-£10, but this really is a suggestion – please do not feel limited by it!
