Information
In order for us to be able to provide the best experience, it’s helpful for us to know a few things:
- What is the age group of the class?
- How many children are in the class?
- Have the studied Buddhism before, and if yes, what areas have you covered?
- How long would you like the visit to be?
- Length, time and date of the visit (subject to discussion).
Example visit
The following is a list of possible things that may be included in a visit, depending on time/the team, as well as whether the visit is to Adhisthana or in your school.
- Introduction from the team
- Mini-quiz
- Question & Answer session(s)
- The life story of the Buddha
- The nature of enlightenment
- Reflection on positive qualities
- Tour around Adhisthana
- Meditation
- Buddhist Ethics
- Group discussion
Costs/Generosity
We don’t ask for payment for school visits, instead, we are trying to create what we call a ‘generosity economy’. This is getting away from the usual idea that “I will give you this, but only if you give me that back in return”, and instead to build a community based on generous principles.
We love having school visits and they are freely given; we aren’t trying to make money from them. At the same time, it takes time and energy from members of the team living here who would otherwise be gardening/cooking/booking people onto retreats.
As this is very different from the usual transactional model we tend to operate within, we have found that it can be helpful to give suggested donations amounts, but please don’t feel limited by them. Please note if traveling to Hereford/Worcester please +£20 for travel. If you would feel more comfortable being invoiced, we are also happy to do this instead.
Time | Covering costs | Generous donation |
1.5 hours | £120 | £200 |
2 hours | £150 | £250 |
