Tree Planting and Working Retreat

9 – 16 jan | led by Ratnaghosha, Sanghadeva, Saddhanandi + Kerianna

In January 2026 we want to extend the woodland at Adhisthana again by planting over 500 trees. This is to create more habitat for wildlife, greater seclusion for our solitary retreat huts, add to the beauty of the surroundings, and of course contribute to the environment.

During the retreat, the time between breakfast and lunch will be given over to work. If for any reason (e.g., hard frost) we can’t plant the trees, there will be other work to do. Sanghadeva and Kerianna will lead the work sessions. In the afternoon there will be free time and then study with Ratnaghosha and Saddhanandi. In the evening we will have meditation and puja.

It is essential that those attending are able-bodied enough to do approx. 3 hours manual work each day. You need to have a good back and be ready to work in winter weather. Bring suitable clothing for working outdoors. Spaces limited to 20.

Reception is from 4pm on the day of arrival, with the retreat beginning with supper at 6pm.

While you’re here you will be participating in communal life. This includes meditating with everyone on site in the main shrine room in the morning, taking part in daily tasks and at the end of your retreat you will help us to prepare the retreat centre for the next group to join us.

With this in mind, the retreat will finish after the clear-up, so if travelling on public transport, please book a train after 11am.

Please contact the office to check for single room availability.
