21 – 24 August
Sangharakshita II wanted to meditate and realise the truth. Sangharakshita I wanted to experience the richness of life.
This once-in-a-lifetime Combined Area Order Weekend for the UK & Ireland marks the centenary of Sangharakshita’s birth — an opportunity to come together as the Order in gratitude, reflection, and celebration.
We will explore two distinct yet ultimately unified aspects of Bhante’s personality and spiritual vision — his disciplined, ascetic side and his imaginative, poetic side — and how their integration gave rise to a new and radical expression of the Dharma: the Triratna Buddhist Order and Community.
Nagabodhi and Subhadramati will offer insightful and personal perspectives on these two aspects. The weekend will also feature Dharmakatha discussion groups, guided by the Adhisthana Teaching Community, delving into Bhante’s teachings and the distinctive flavour of our tradition.
Come and mark this centenary milestone with the Order, deepen your connection with Bhante’s vision, and participate in a collective exploration of the Dharma he gave us – and maybe ask yourself what tensions arise and could resolve in your own life.
A bumper weekend in the year of Sangharakshita’s 100th birthday, immediately followed by a movement-wide retreat.
