Solo Retreats

The tightening Tier system and November lockdown ruled out the possibility of running Solo Retreats in 2020. We will review them for 2021. Do get in touch with admin@adhisthana.org to express interest as this helps us prioritise.

Adhisthana would like to offer further opportunities for mitras and order members in our Triratna community to spend some time away from their regular life and focus on the Dharma. Our solo retreats offer less solitude than a ‘solitary’, but still provide an opportunity for stillness, meditation, study, beauty and devotion with the freedom to follow your own threads of inspiration. During your stay at Adhisthana basic needs such as food, bedding & heating will be taken care of, leaving you free to enjoy the conditions on offer here. You can take advantage of our beautiful gardens, Bhante’s burial mound, plenty of space and the opportunity for country walks. The Adhisthana Community will be around on site, but you will be left to focus on your own pursuits, amidst the currently quiet life of Adhisthana.

You’ll be given a single room in a quiet, shared corridor near a tea bar/kitchenette & lounge. You will be provided with lunch and dinner from the retreat kitchen as well as food for breakfast.

The corridors are single-sex. As we only have one space currently available for Solo Retreats we will allocate the sex of the corridor based on the first booking. We hope to have two corridors available soon, one for men and one for women.

Please note we can only have you here on solo retreat if you are coming from an area which is in Tier 1 or 2. If you are in a ‘Tier 3’ or equivalent lockdown, unfortunately we cannot accept bookings from you.

Facilities & Food

You will be in a single room in a shared corridor with shared tea bar/kitchenette and bathroom. We ask that you please bring your own bed linen (single sheet, single duvet cover, two pillow cases). You will be provided with lunch and dinner from the retreat kitchen as well as food for breakfast and snacks. If you have a restricted diet, please email us to see if we can cater for you. You will have access to a fridge to store any supplementary items you may need.

Internet

You will have access to the internet from your rooms to enable you to participate in online retreats.

On request we can provide maps, walking boots (even walking sticks) for a range of country walks from a leisurely stroll to a hike up the Malvern Hills in under two hours for the more adventurous.

Gardening

If you’d like to get your hands dirty you’re welcome to ask if you can help out with some gardening as a way of relaxing and giving energy to the beauty of Adhisthana.

Price

We are taking bookings for a minimum of one week at £195 per week, beginning and ending on a Friday. Taking into consideration all the extra precautions and restrictions we currently have to follow, we have aimed to keep the price low and welcome dana on top if you can afford it.

Arrival and Check-out

Your room will be available from 4pm on the day you arrive, please come to the office upon arrival to be welcomed. We request you ‘check-out’ and vacate your rooms by 10.30am on the morning you leave, although you are welcome to stay on-site until 1pm if needed. This is to ensure we have enough time to thoroughly deep clean all facilities.

The table below shows our current availability, but we will release later dates on a rolling basis. If you’re interested in coming after the dates displayed, we can place you on a waiting list and get in contact to confirm closer to the time.

You can email to be put on a waiting list for any week not yet released, or you can get in contact about coming for a self-catered camping visit. More information about coming to camp is available here.
