Singing the Sangha

Led by Arthasiddhi, Manidhara + Vandanajyoti

#there is now a waiting list for altos, unless you can sing soprano too#

Sangharakshita once said "An orchestra is a spiritual community, at least while it is playing". The same can be said for a choir. Later he said that he would like every centre to have a choir and that the centre choir master was as important as the mitra convenor! In the course of this weekend we will be exploring the importance of beauty in a Dharma life and how choir singing can lead us to a deeper experience of Sangha.

Open to Order Members + GFR Mitras.

Padmavajra may also join the team, TBC.

The retreat is for music readers and non-music readers and all in between. We will be singing as one united choir and also dividing into readers and non-readers. The retreat will consist of music for 4 voice parts and require both music readers and non-readers to note learn up to 4 pieces of about 5 minutes to be sung in the 'united choir'. We will supply both mp3s and sheet music for you to learn these pieces before the retreat.

Please indicate in the Other Info box, whether you are soprano, alto, tenor or bass, and whether you are able to read music.

You will need to learn the pieces to the level of being able to sing along with the MP3. If you are not able to do this before the retreat you will not be able to enjoy the singing or support other singers as we are planning to use the short time we have to the full!
