Gender Diverse Sangha Retreat
Led by Jnanamitra, Nagakusala, Pasadini + Shraddhasiddhi
A retreat for gender diverse people led by a team of gender diverse Order Members: Jnanamitra, Nagakusala, Pasadini and Shraddhasiddhi
This retreat is for anyone who is an Order Member or Mitra in Triratna (we are also open to people who are thinking of becoming mitras - by invite only). By gender diverse we mean all gender diverse people, including trans, non-binary, intersex, gender fluid, gender non-conforming, and gender questioning.
This retreat's theme is the True Individual, and we will explore Sangharakshita’s teaching and emphasis on this theme. Becoming a true individual requires courage—the willingness to question inherited views, examine cherished assumptions, and make conscious choices that may set us apart from conventional society. Sangharakshita reminds us that this journey isn't always comfortable, but it is profoundly liberating.
In his teachings on the True Individual, Sangharakshita explores breaking free from group mindsets and finding a way to free ourselves from our psychological conditioning. When doing this, we can develop our distinct understanding based on our direct experience.
We will explore four key aspects: self-awareness, self-knowledge, self-confidence, and self-responsibility. We will then expand on these qualities and imagine what they are like when they are alive and shared in a spiritual community. In this community, authentic individuality is nurtured rather than suppressed.
The retreat theme will be explored through dharma input, talks, small group discussions, artistic expression, reflection and meditation.
