Sub40 Order Seminar: I Accept This Ordination

20 – 23 April 2023 | A weekend for Order Members in their twenties & thirties with Saddhanandi

With Loyalty to My Teachers, I Accept This Ordination
In Harmony with Friends and Companions, I Accept This Ordination
For the Attainment of Enlightenment, I Accept This Ordination
For the Benefit of All Beings, I Accept This Ordination

Recited in the public ordination ceremony, the four verses of acceptance essentialise what it means to be a Dharmachari/Dharmacharini practicing within the Triratna Buddhist Order. Together they provide a vision for Triratna as an international Buddhist community loyal to Urygen Sangharakshita’s vision, working in harmony and sustained by spiritual friendship; dedicated to the attainment of Enlightenment for the benefit of all beings.

The verses themselves are deeply rooted in the Bodhisattva’s path and can provide us with an aspiration and a sense of direction. Over the weekend Saddhanandi will lead a series of seminars exploring the principles within the acceptance verses and how to go about practicing them in our daily life. With talks, discussion, meditation, ritual (and, of course, a night spent roasting marshmallows under the oak tree).

Saddhanandi was ordained in 1995, she lives at Adhisthana and previously lived at Taraloka retreat centre for two decades – spending time as chair at both places. Down to earth and with a great depth of practice, Saddhanandi is an excellent dharma teacher and is a Preceptor and Kalyana Mitra to many a member of the young(er) order.
