29 January – 1 February | Led by a team of young order members
However immeasurable the Dharmas are, I vow to master them;
However incomparable the Buddha-truth is, I vow to attain it.
However inexhaustible the passions are, I vow to extinguish them;
However innumerable beings are, I vow to save them;
– The Bodhisattva Vows
The vows of the Bodhisattva are the expression of the conversion from a life of spiritual individualism to one of complete selflessness.
As changemakers we’re already engaging in this. We’re trying to save beings from needless suffering. But in order to do that, it’s vital that we know and are working with our weaknesses; that we’re deepening our understanding of the Dharma and making real spiritual progress.
Over the course of the weekend we’ll explore how we can do this vital inner work, through our activity running young Buddhist groups and in our lives more broadly, and how we might begin to save innumerable beings, however lofty that aspiration may be.
This annual Sub35 Changemakers weekend is for mitras aged 18–34 who facilitate (or might soon facilitate) young Buddhist activities, or who teach (or host) general classes and events at their local centre with young people in regular attendance. The weekend includes talks, discussions, and practical workshops.

We’re delighted that The European Triratna Chairs Assembly has provided a generous grant to help make it possible for young Mitras living outside of England & Wales to attend this event. Email Maitriyogini to ask about a grant to pay towards your travel costs.
To book on this retreat you need to be a Mitra within the Triratna community aged 18-34.
Reception is from 4pm on the day of arrival, with the retreat beginning with supper at 6pm.
While you’re here you will be participating in communal life. This includes meditating with everyone on site in the main shrine room in the morning, taking part in daily tasks and at the end of your retreat you will help us to prepare the retreat centre for the next group to join us.
With this in mind, the retreat will finish after the clear-up, so if travelling on public transport, please book a train after 3pm.
