‘The teachings contained in the Dhammapada are literal truth, and deserve to be engraved on our hearts in letters of gold – or fire’ – Sangharakshita
The Dhammapada has been translated into English more times than any other Buddhist text. It is often the one text that non-Buddhists may have read and is considered a classic not only of Buddhist but of world literature. But its significance is not just its literary merit but its very clear and direct expression of what Sangharakshita calls, “Basic Buddhism.”
Come together with other people in their twenties and early thirties to meditate together, hear talks, gather in discussion groups and engage in buddhist ritual. Over the weekend we’ll explore the Dhammapada, giving us a chance to hear directly from the Buddha some of his central teachings about how to practice the Dharma and free ourselves from suffering.
If you’re aged 30 or under, then this retreat is for you – it doesn’t matter if you’re brand new to meditation and Buddhism, or have lots of experience of, just come along!
