Enlightenment as Experience and Non-Experience

‘On account of the general nature of modern life we are on the look-out for experience, on the look-out for the experience that will transport us out of that life, even out of ourselves…’

This weekend is based on a single lecture (Enlightenment as experience and non-experience) given by Sangharakshita under the auspices of the London Buddhist Society in 1975.

In it, Bhante holds back no punches, delivering his perspective on neurotic craving for spiritual experience, a craving that can manifest in various ways: ‘we will expect the experience to come from somewhere, or from someone, or from something…’.

Over the weekend we’ll take a new look at this material through presentations, discussion and meditation, exploring a deeper perspective on the Dharma life and on our engagement with it.

We look forward to seeing you there!
