Encountering the Lord of Death | Men’s Area Order Weekend

Prakasha has very kindly offered to give two talks over the weekend, the theme being ‘Encountering the Lord of Death’, and centring upon his own personal encounters with Yamaraja. Prakasha’s talks will be augmented with appropriate meditation and the Vajrasattva Bardo Puja.

The talks promise to be both fascinating and challenging, asking about our preparation for death, and the depth of our Dharma practice – are we ready for our inevitable encounter with the Lord of Death and Vajrasattva?

From Prakasha: “The content of the two talks is around my own personal encounters with Yamaraja, the Lord of Death. He is mentioned in the Bardo Thodol. He looks into the mirror of Karma and sees the deceased persons faults and virtues. The good actions are like the white pebbles and the bad actions are like the black pebbles. These are counted out and according to their Karma, the deceased person is either liberated or reborn in one of the six realms.
In the first talk I will be sharing various meditation experiences and explaining my relationship with the Lord of Death. In the second talk I will be sharing my near-death experience following eating a poisonous mushroom at Guhyaloka. The two talks go together as a pair and follow on from each other. They are both about the need to have a Dharma practice that is deep enough to prepare for our inevitable encounter with the Lord of Death and with Vajrasattva. The theme follows on from Subuhti’s introduction to the Root Verses of the 6 Bardos on the Nov 2021 Order Event.”
