2 – 9 July | Led by Prakasha, Vijayamala, Prajnanita + team
Homage to the blessed, noble Lady, Prajnaparamita,
Whose Wisdom goes beyond thought, speech and expression.
Unborn and unceasing like the luminous space of the sky,
You are the presence of the Perfection of Wisdom;
I pay homage to the Mother beyond all three times.
Prajnaparamita is the Great Goddess of the Perfection of Wisdom. She is also the Jinamata, the Mother of all the Buddhas, who awaken to her wisdom. Appearing in a beautiful, glorified form, she embodies the most profound truth of the Dharma. She can be approached directly, through opening to the subtle, mysterious quality of her illumined presence that is ever near. She can also be approached through heartfelt devotion to the beauty and gracefulness of her symbolic form.
On this retreat we will be attempting to do both: to fathom the deep mystery of her teaching of Śūnyatā – the Emptiness of self and dharmas. And also to engage in the imaginative evocation of her sublime form through visualisation, the recitation of mantra, invocation, readings and the performance of collective ritual. This will take us beyond ourselves into the completeness of the greater mandala that she embodies. Realisation of her wisdom brings an entry into timelessness and boundlessness; here all is well and always has been!
On this retreat we will be giving a full introduction to the Prajnaparamita sadhana. The sadhana has the primary components of the five-fold system of spiritual practice and serves to awaken Bodhicitta within the context of the Bodhisattva ideal. We will also be sharing a recent translation of the Sadhana. This will be a unique and significant opportunity to collectively engage in her sadhana and open to her grace and blessings.
‘Beauty is truth, truth beauty, that is all you know on earth and all you need to know.’
– John Keats
Reception is from 4pm on the day of arrival, with the retreat beginning with supper at 6pm.
While you’re here, you will be participating in communal life. This includes meditating with everyone on site in the main shrine room in the morning, taking part in daily tasks and at the end of your retreat you will help us to prepare the retreat centre for the next group to join us.
With this in mind, the retreat will finish after the clear-up, so if travelling on public transport, please book a train after 11am.
