Perfect Rhythm, Perfect Balance: Exploring the System of Practice

In 1978 Sangharakshita gave a seminal lecture outlining his thoughts on a ‘System of Meditation’. Over the years this was refined and developed to become the ‘System of Practice’ for whole-life transformation as outlined in the paper from Subhuti and Bhante in 2011: ‘Initiation into a New Life’.

On this retreat Paramartha and Vidyamala will explore the evolution of Bhante’s thinking in this key area of how to apply a systematic and holistic approach to Dharma practice. They will look backward to the five chief paths of the Mahayana tradition that influenced Bhante’s original approach, as well as looking forwards to how we can apply these essential teachings to our lives as practitioners in the 21st century.

The retreat will be a spacious balance of discussion, mindful movement, meditation and devotional practice.
