Led by Saddhanandi, Kalyanasri, Moksanandi, Vajrasara
Kalyana Mitrata for Dharmacharinis
Adhisthana: 17-24 February 2017
with Saddhanandi, Vajrasara, Kalyanasri and Moksanandi
‘’We need someone who can see and draw out who we are, or rather who we are becoming. Each one of us has an inner world, full of thoughts and feelings that are amorphous or embryonic: we can only give them their proper shape through communication. Whenever we succeed in communicating them, we are changed, becoming someone new. Our best friends, the ones who care about us and understand us deeply, are creative listeners, partners in our act of self-creation.’’ (Subhuti: ‘Buddhism and Friendship’)
Kalyana Mitrata is a strong guiding influence in our Sangha. A guiding influence that connects the whole Sangha; builds a system of trust in times of controversy; carries encouragement and feedback; functions as a vehicle for personal depth; and allows each one of us to communicate a deeper level of ourselves that is not only nourishing but is necessary in our ability to embody the vision we hold dear. At the heart of that communication is the ‘kalyana’ – the vertical dimension of beauty and authentic values.
During this retreat, there will be talks and presentations on a variety of themes: projection; identifying strengths and weaknesses of ourselves as a kalyana mitra; and the process of challenge and encouragement. These themes will be set within the Triratna system of integration, positive intention, receptivity, spiritual death, spiritual rebirth. There will also be a chance to share some of our history of friendship and our particular experiences, and Saddhanandi and Vajrasara will lead the Kalyana Mitra meditation practice.
Do join us on this retreat at Adhisthana, for a week of friendship and training.
‘It is not a question of some theoretical principle that you must follow in order to be a good Buddhist. It is about transforming your life in a way that does justice to what you are and what you wish to be. (Sangharakshita: ‘Living Wisely’)
