Day 1

Dedication Ceremony

A welcome from the team, and a dedication ceremony led by Paramatha.

Day 2

INNER AND OUTER GURU

After providing an outline to the retreat, Prakasha illustrates how his practice has transformed over his life. Building on a developmental approach and a focus on the outer guru, he shifted towards opening to the emergence of life and a deep listening to the inner guru.

UNGUIDED MEDITATION

A session of unguided meditation.

Avalokiteshvara Puja

Saddhaloka leads a Puja on the Avalokitesvara Sadhana practice.

Day 3

Making the Great Descent

Prakasha makes the case that we need to see the Dharma life in terms of making a descent. Drawing on sources such as Dante’s Inferno and Carl Jung, he explores some of the terrain that we cover in this dark, but integrative process, all of which must be covered before we can ascend to the higher realms.

Meditation

Saddhaloka begins a session of unguided meditation by reading In devotion to Avalokitesvara, from the White Lotus Sutra (175 in Buddhist Texts Through The Ages edited by Conze, Horner, Snellgrove and Waley)

Amitabha Puja

Vidyamala sets the context, then reads Bhante’s vision of Amitabha. We chant the mantra, and then she leads through the sadhana, followed by a reading, mantra, and offerings.
